Audi fashion festival '13 | Parco next Next

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of attending two different fashion shows at Audi Fashion Festival 2013. For those who don't know, it is a 5 day long fashion event in Singapore (the biggest of the year!) with an exuberant number of local and international brands showcasing their collections. One of the shows I went to was the Parco next Next. The show for this fashion incubator project, with a group of young local designers, showcased Spring Summer 2013 collections from their eight labels.
Out of those eight labels, here are my two favourites: Lion Earl and Mash-up.

Lion Earl ~ Moon Crust collection
For Lionel Low's third collection, TRON movies were a great inspiration for the futuristic designs. When not in graphic prints the ensembles' colours were kept to a monochrome scheme. The sleek lines found in the bandage dresses and printed legging made the pieces somewhat resembled spacesuits and added a element of architecture to the collection. The stand-out pleated peplum piece was evident yet again after being seen in the Spring Summer 2012 Lion Earl collection. Ending the showcase of this label, the dramatic floor length dress came down the runway. The great use of black mesh material and the oversized mohawk headpiece really made this a memorable look.

Mash-up ~ Cyber Ndebele collection
Energy was high as the Mash-up show was opened by the Chilli padi derby girls which came roller blading down the runway, much to the excitement of the audience. This street wear collection was saturated with vibrant hues not to mention the prints. These included the leopard print on denim and the loud tribal inspired patterns. The graphic prints were also said to be heavily inspired by 'coded messages' and pop culture. With this, the team behind Mash-up evidently achieved what they were aiming for: a collection focused on appealing to a younger audience around the world. In addition to the print filled pieces with their bold colour pallet, transparent plastic pieces were also seen during the show, like the skater skirt layered over the graphic swimsuit or the wings (definitely resembling some Victoria's Secret pieces). Lastly, I can not forget to mention the legitimately awesome shoes which were paired with this collection. From sky high creepers to pastel coloured printed oxfords, they all perfectly complemented the overall look of the ensembles.

What are your thoughts on these collections? Which is your favourite?

+ Another Audi Fashion Festival post is coming your way, so stay tuned!

spring summer essentials | minimalistic

Spring Summer Essentials
photo from vogue Paris April '13 | all item links here

There is something just so relaxed yet minimal and fresh about these warmer months that are upon us. Lighter clothes, less layers; it's just more simple this way. During these times I always have my go-to pieces but then there are also those items I wish I could say were my "go-to"s but just haven't found their way into my life (yet).

So lets start with the items that year in and year out have always been there for me during these hot Spring Summer days.
  1. In the Spring and Summer you will most likely catch me in my crop tops or very light weight shirts any time I'm chilling at home.
  2. Lets also not forget those short shorts that are the only escape, in my opinion, from the scorching heat.
  3. If sunglasses weren't a must before well now they certainly are now.
  4. This year one of my resolutions (as you may call it) was to drink a lot more water, as being dehydrated is the last thing I want to be in this Singapore weather.
  5. On the topic of warm weather, these Zara white ankle strap heels are just so perfect. I've always loved white leather shoes for the s/s and I though that this piece, from their wide selection of ankle strap heels, was the perfect fit for this time of year.
  6.  Lastly, I have applied nail polish in the light white shade  for the past couple of weeks, it is such a perfect touch to a vibrant outfit.
Now onto the items that are in my summer wishlist of essentials:
  1. A dungaree or as some say, an overall. I've had some in the past but now this year I would love to get myself a light wash one like this Topshop light denim one.
  2.  Also, as well as the Furla candy satchel bag, which I talked about in my previous wishlist post, I am in love with this DKNY tote. As much as I use the word 'love' I really do feel this way about this design. Clean classic cuts in sophisticated white leather for a perfect minimalistic look.
What are your Spring Summer essentials?

+ I apologise for the lack of post in the past few weeks due to my exams. But I'm back!

Blogger Q&A with Michelle Ho

It's time for this months blogger Q&A! In this month's post you'll get an insight into the world of the fashion blogger Michelle Ho, from the blog bemyself. This gorgeous girl from Los Angeles has got style to spare and documents her travel and fashion adventures on her blog.
So read on and get to know her a little bit better, from her dream career to the 5 things she can't live without

1. What inspired you start blogging?
When I started getting interested in photography, I thought I could do something different by posting my photos like how other bloggers did. And since I'm into fashion too, I started posting my outfits and sharing other stuff with my readers that inspire me.

2. What is your favourite trend at the moment?
Favourite trend right now? Well, Floral for sure! I'm into that 90's spring floral vibe and print over print sort of thing right now! Nothing's better and fun to wear when it comes to floral!!

3. What is your dream career?
I've always wanted to be a fashion designer, having my own couture and ready-to-wear clothing design by myself!! Seriously, I could actually seeing myself being all narcissist (just keep in mind that I'm a psychic) when I have that job! ;)

4. Favourite places to shop?
Well, if you're my long time reader, you probably would already notice that most of things are from Forever 21!! haha So, my favourite place to shop would totally be Forever 21, in my opinion the clothing is affordable and very comfortable to wear! And I'm always on the sale section so things I dig out are some really great deal!

5. What is one item currently on your wishlist?
This Wild Devine Dress. I mean, come on! How can you not fall in love with this dreamy printed maxi dress!!

6. What is the last book you read?
The Carrie Diaries by Candance Bushnell. It's a really interesting book overall, and although I had seen a few episodes of the show I'd say the book has much more interesting facts and personality that you could see through a character!

7. How would you describe your personal style?
Man!! This is such a hard question. Trust me, if you're an avid reader, you don't think you know the answer too! Ok, well! My style changes overtime, not like it depends on my mood! It's like sometimes, you see me dressing sort of vintage-esque; sometimes you see me dressing all gothic-esque; and sometimes I could be a modern-day teenager! So, I would say my style is variable since I dress differently all the time!

8. What are 5 things you cannot live without?
My laptop, lots of lots of water(I'm guessing I'm a mutant because I can never have enough water to stay hydrated all the time), my phone, endless-free-and-fast wifi (so I can procrastinate), and music.

9.Apart from blogging, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Well, I like reading! I'm mostly into those weird mysteries, fantasies or maybe some real-life-teenage-girls' stories. And I also like to photograph my little sister(I like practising on shooting portraits and learning how to reflect my personality through the lens). This is her blog, you'll see my work here.

10. What are your blogging goals for this year?
This year, one of my goal is to hit 500 readers on my blog. Another one is to try producing different outfit photos on my blog, like not just those plain and same outfit photos, but photography involved photos(which I know takes lot of time but I'll try my best on that)!
